What exactly is a favicon? It’s the little icon that is displayed on a web browser’s page tab. When you first setup your Shopify store, there is no favicon in place and you will see a generic globe icon. Adding a custom favicon of your own makes your store look more legitimate and this favicon can appear in previews of your website links on social media and in messaging apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

Before adding a favicon, you’ll need to create an image that is 32 by 32px. This is the size that Shopify recommends.

1. Click on Online Store in the left-hand menu. Then, click on on the Customize button.
2. Under the Theme Settings tab, click on Favicon.
3. Click Select Image and upload your favicon image.
4. Click Save in the top right corner. If you refresh/reload your website, you will now see your new favicon.
